i have no respect for the governing body of jehovah's witnesses(tm) as i consider them to be wicked men.. having said that, is there any proven dirt on them that could expose them for the critters they are?.

been lurking for a while on here and thought i'd jump in.

a great deal of many thoughtful posts on here but have to say am a bit turned off with the 'rabid apostate' ones!.

my history- was raised in a divided household, mum converted to jw when pregnant with me back in 1970, dad was never jw but was supportive of taking us to meetings, assemblies etc.

Suavojr ... With over emotional religious high, I saw slides and heard a talk about the Bros in Myanmar (old Burma). The very difficult and tough life the missionaries and Bethelites lived over there, if they had passed a basket around (think Civil War times in the movie "Gone With the Wind" when they were passing the hat for their "glorious soldiers") I would have stripped off my jewelry for the " better cause". I actually was surprised that no "donation" was asked for.

So your post above ^^^^^ seems like to me, if the total was a tad high, your JDubs at your KHall really believe, still, Armageddon is nigh. like I thought (because I was told that... for how many decades did I listen like a drone and Believe???

JW sweetheart innocents believe what they are told. If Mother says she needs money, the poor children will give her all they have because they think Mother loves them. Their Mother might love them but the JW.org Mother does not "love" her children. She is an abusive mother that everyone needs to run away from.

It is sad and cruel on JW.org's part.

They are bullying the sheeples all over the world.

many have already discussed how verses, quotes, and facts are cherry-picked to fit a particular situation.. i came across another blatant misrepresentation of facts, in a grossly misleading chart-graphic.

Had an argument with my wife about tinkerbell :(

one of my co workers mother made my 4 year old a blanket with the disney character tinkerbell on it.

as soon as i got it i knew trouble lay ahead.

i wanted to reason with her before my daughter saw it so as not to cause a disruption, but it didn't work out that way.

PS There was a Jamaican family in our city. We both took our daughters to tap, ballet, gymnastics. For a while the girls were learning a dance routine that in the music had a one time instance when the word "magic" was used. It was no big deal to me, but the Jamaican sister threw a fit. Her daughter was not going to dance to music that had the word magic in it. (???) Okay. So when that music came on, she made her daughter sit out by herself.

AUTISM and JW children

i was a jw kid.

i remember having to sit still through long, boring meetings.

i remember being taken to the book room for numerous spankings.

As for the OP, JW meetings are not encouraging or up building for anyone, young or old.

I am not aware of knowing any autistic people but thank you for giving us an idea of how it has been for you and your family.

How long have you been an online "apostate?"

i really do not like that word (apostate), as used to represent someone who decided to remove themselves, or was removed from the influence of the watchtower... but i am curious.. how long have websites like these been in existence?

when did this movement begin?.

personally, how long did it take for you to dare exploring information outside the watchtower publications, about jehovah's witnesses (especially online)?.

Our first computer came home in 1986. We have had a number since, but I never looked up anything "bad" on the internet.

After I read C of C by Ray Franz, I was out of JW's. That was 2 years 2 months ago.

I made a major house move, got settled in and was looking up public records on Ancestry.com concerning the 1940 US Census.

I looked up 124 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn Bethel.

Finding 70 year old Rutherford there, I decided to collect all of his public records.

And what did I find???

I was flabbergasted to see what old "Judge" Joe Rutherford had been up to.

Not only was he a con man, and a drunkard, but he was an adulterer, too. For many years.

If I hadn't read Ray's book, this would have done it for me.

I was on my own "Blues Brother's"... mission from God, to look up all the public info I could on this "worldly man" posing not just as a JW, but as President of all JW's and his JW girlfriend Bonnie Boyd Heath.

My Nancy Drew sluething had to have an outlet. I had to let other JW's know what a phony Rutherford was!

So I got on the Internet. I don't remember what I looked at first or what I had typed in. But soon, I settled on JWN. It had Leolaia and Blondie on it. I felt I was in the right place.

So to answer your OP, not even 2 years. ( 1year 9 months)

Missing my Mom

she and my dad brought us to the u.s. from ireland in hopes of giving the 4 of us kids a better life with more opportunities.. mom went to school in her village where her mother (my grandmother) was the teacher and the bible was part of the curriculum.

they even used the name jehovah.

her father was a plymouth brethern (think amish or quaker) who was shunned for the rest of his life for marrying my grandmother who wasn't "in the lord"...she belonged to church of ireland.. when the witnesses came to the door after we arrived in the u.s, mom was a shoe-in candidate for their recruitment.

Heavenly. Did she play and sing any songs by Mary O'Hara, who sang and played on the smaller Irish harp?

So many twists and turns and "if only's... " in your story.
